BLUR traces the eloquent journey of Elizabeth Haney as she uncovers new expressions to her artistic inspiration.
In 2019, Elizabeth attended an art workshop in Clonakility, West Cork, Ireland presented by French artist Edwidge Fouvrey. Through the workshop she learned a new technique in painting which gave her a more expressive freedom with her brushwork and the medium of oil paint. The BLUR exhibition features tactile oil paintings and photographs created through Elizabeth’s journey and observations while in Ireland. Guests can expect this dramatic art collection to prompt a whirlwind of emotions and memories through the aura and infusion of vivid dark and light colors. Elizabeth is drawn towards dramatic and stormier landscapes. She is also often inspired by romantic artists and writers of the 19th century. Her work features depth and abstract storytelling.
Elizabeth’s academic background and work experience includes two degrees from York University: A Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in painting and photography, and a Bachelor of English Literature. Working in various departments of the Art Gallery of Ontario, she had the incredible experience of assisting with the blind; influencing her to see the world with a new set of eyes. She depicts this in her work through the use multi-sensory elements and tactile textures.
Elizabeth hopes that through her paintings she can take you on a journey that engages you in the drama and beauty of blending Irish landscapes, emotions, and blurred memories.
